I just started using the X-rite color checker and find it very useful. The advantages are, it’s small and rugged so it’s easy to have in your pocket and it comes with software that automatically creates color profiles for Photoshop elements, Camera raw and Adobe Lightroom.
It’s also has a target for custom camera white balance for those shooting JPG’s. Here’s a link to Seth Resnick Video show the Color Checker in action. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V39n1J8IgpA
This is update to my previous post 6 months ago, I’ve been using the Passport for about 6 months now and I’m still learning how to use the device, yesterday  I watched a X-rite webcast about using the profiler and learned a few tips that will help me spend up my workflow. The question I have about ACR profile management still goes un-answered. I’m still trying to find how to manage my profiles which the passport creates.
