People usually paint their house like a flag as a form of bold, attention-grabbing protest against strict local building codes or Homeowner Association (HOA) rules. When frustrated by design committees or historical commissions telling them what to do, homeowners often use the patriotic design as a legal loophole to bypass subjective color restrictions.
