The Book
This post was inspired by Richard Lewis post http://photoimpressionism.wordpress.com/ called Abandonment which got me thinking about my on urban photos as why do I take them.
My reason for make these kind of photographs is different from Rich’s in that I connect to the state of decay, which is the nature state of everything we are just to busy in our heads to perceive it. This practice helps me with my Zen Buddhist meditation and confirms my brief. I realize that I am dying just like everything else.

Lou, this image grabbed me before I read the post and knew that my work inspired it. Thank you, by the way, but I have to tell you how very powerful this photograph is. Not only is this the book of the dead but in our lifetimes the telephone book went from the main device that linked us all together to almost totally irrelevant in this digital age.
