Champion Black Oak Tree
This is a champion NJ Quercus velutina, also known as Black Oak. The tree is named the Brearley Oak, after the local Brearly farm family.
The trunk measures 20′ 8″ around, and it stands 98′ tall and the crown is 128′ across. A few of the low limbs are actually in braces, but that’s to be expected when you are an estimated 270 years old!
Truly a majestic giant.
