New Bridge to Nowhere
This is an update 6/28/2023 to the story of the bridge.
After a tough day, I decided to get a glass of wine. My wife suggested the Wine Works in Marlton NJ. I like the Wine Works because of the ability to sample wines for free. When I went to the sample machine, my photograph of the Unknown Bridge jumped out at me. The label on a bottle called the Abram’s Bridge caught my eye and I almost had a heart attach. I had sold the rights to a wine company over 5 years ago and had no idea where the image was going to be used, except that it would be used on a limited number of approximately 150 cases of wine. I was so surprised to see it on the machine. Not only that, but I would have never found it in the thousands of bottles of wine in the such large store. What’s the chances of me finding it? Ok, back to the picture and the story behind the “New Bridge”.
It all started with a trip to meetup a photography group at the town of Greenville, New Jersey to do a photography group shoot. I was using Google Maps AP to get there. After the town of Salem it happened, I followed a country road and then where I got lost, it was a dead end at a very old bridge. I stopped and tried to figure out what to do next. Nothing came to mind, but the bridge called to me to take a photo. So I got out of my car and photographed this bridge. The bridge had no name that I could find, maybe a trip to the historic center would tell me more information on the bridge and the site. In researching the bridge it had no name, I need to go further, by going to the Salem Historic building and asking questions. I love this bridge for some unknown reason, maybe because my grandfather Hanson T. Coey worked on bridges. I went back recently and the bridge is still there in a state of disrepair. It saddened me because I found out they want to demolish it.
More photographs and info is coming soon.

Great treatment for the bridge photo! And congrats on the sale for the wine bottle. Any idea how they found it?
Thanks, Steve; you know I have no idea how they found me. Maybe just on the blog post. I should have asked that question, but I was green.
My daughter said I need to rewrite the post, doesn’t read well.
I have no idea why I went out and found the bottle that night in the wine store.
Keep posting and you will get found, IMHO
Be well Lou
It’s hard to resist an old bridge. That one looks to be in the final stages – I’d be a bit careful about walking out on it, but like you, I’d probably do it for the photos I could get.
Hey Jim; Thanks for the comments, the bridge remains in my mind, I when back to it after a couple of years, still haven’t walked across, very creepy. I need to go to the historic society to find the history of the bridge. I was surprised that nothing has been done to it.
A wine company bought the rights to us the image on a batch of wine and even put my name on the label.
