Visit Bartram Gardens, Philadelphia, PA
I always wanted to visit Bartram Gardens, the place where I was brought into this world, but the real reason was to learn more about John Bartram and see and feel this place that was the birthplace of botany. Falling in love this location because it makes you feeling like you are stepping back in time.
I went to a Celebration of Daffodils at Bartram’s Garden with Sara L. Van Beck, author of Daffodils in American Gardens, 1733-1940, She visits Bartram’s Garden to tell the fascinating story of the genus Narcissus and its journey from the Mediterranean basin to the gardens of historic Philadelphia. Bartram’s daffodil collection—living relics of bulbs brought to Bartram’s Garden centuries ago, blooming in the same place year after year. It was an amazing program.
Watching Daffodils was a family tradition in the Dallara family. My guess was because it’s the World’s Most Popular Spring Flower. “The Daffodil”.
Bartram Gardens is America’s oldest living botanical garden features an 18th century farmstead, native plants, wildflower meadow, and wetland.
Bartram’s Garden is a 50-acre public garden and National Historic Landmark in Southwest Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, situated on Lenape territory on the banks of the Tidal Schuylkill River. It is a venue for art, access to the tidal river and wetlands, an outdoor classroom, and a living laboratory. Wikipedia
