Trees at Morris Arboretum
Update 9-29-2026 These images are from my trip to the Morris Arboretum. The trip left me wanting to go back to spend more time with the beautiful tree. The arboretum has an amazing collection of trees, some are very old and not found in the United States.
If a man walks in the woods for love of them half of each day, he is in danger of being regarded as a loafer. But if he spends his days as a speculator, shearing off those woods and making the earth bald before her time, he is deemed an industrious and enterprising citizen. ~Henry David Thoreau

The Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania is the official arboretum of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Arboretum is open daily except for major holidays. It is located at 100 East Northwestern Avenue, Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
If you feel the need to escape city life for an afternoon, try taking a stroll through the classical English landscape structures and sculpture gardens at Morris Arboretum, a 92-acre Victorian arboretum in the Northwestern corner of Philadelphia.
Connected to the nearby University of Pennsylvania, the Arboretum serves as an interdisciplinary center that integrates art, science and the humanities.
Thousands of rare and lovely wooded plants, including many of Philadelphia’s oldest, rarest and most magnificent trees, grow here.
