Camera’s Manual

November 19, 2021
Olympus-manual OMD-EM1-Mark II

Camera’s Manual

You need to read your camera manual because it contains vital information that will help you to become a better photographer. Just as we need to learn the alphabet before we can learn to read and write, we must learn the basics of operating our cameras in order to take the best photos we can.
How do you read a manual?
You should read manuals like you read love letters. In a love letter, everything counts. You read between the lines, above the lines, below the lines, and in the margins. You read between the individual letters (is that “i” dotted in an angry way?)

John: Are we still meeting for breakfast this morning?

John: Where is the rest of the team? I’ve been here since 3:00am.

Tom: Umm… We actually sleep. Go back to bed, dude.

John: Fuuuuuuuuuuuu

Tom: Fine. But if I show up, I am not wearing pants.

The Real Reason Why I Switched to Micro 4/3

January 18, 2019
olympus-camera-OM-D E-M1II

There several reactions when I tell people I went from a pro-grade full frame Nikon full frame DSLR equipment to Micro 4/3. First, many people are astonished that I’d give up such good gear for that ‘little tiny sensor.’ Or “what happened to your pro gear?” More recently, though, as the market has shifted towards mirror-less, the discussion centers a lot on whether Micro 4/3 has finally caught up to be as good as most DSLRs in image quality, and the biggest one: How much smaller is it, really?

1- Size and weight

2-Menu system

3- Not having to chimp my images, seeing my images in real time.

I believe that M4/3 is also the best tool for many types of photography, like street, travel, macro, landscape and remote wildlife photography.

The Olympus system is the best for my style of shooting. I like the in body stabilization because carry a tripod all day kills my back.

One of the reasons I switched to Olympus is it has the best in-body stabilization. I lot of botanical gardens don’t allow tripods. With quick moving objects like butterfly I get more in focus shots with out using the big heavy tripod. Free at last!

Check back I will be adding more info.

When I shot Nikon I always carried the holy trinity of pro zoom lens, which was the 14-24mm f2.8 + 24-70mm f2.8 + 70-200mm f2.8 zoom lenses. The killer trio!

In the Olympus world the holy trinity of pro lens is the following, The Olympus M.Zuiko 7-14mm F2.8 PRO lens + 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO + 40-150 mm f/2.8 PRO lens.
