Pinelands Controlled Burn
I was out in the Dwarf Pine Plains with the PPA scouting photographic sites and was able to watch a controlled burn. I’ll add more link to more images that are geotagged later.
New images are from March 30, 2019, from Franklin Parker Preserve North Gate, which is located in the pinelands national reserve.
Lots of smoke and fire raging out of control, well with 40 mph gust of wind what would you expect?
Even the Jersey devil couldn’t put this fire out.
Effects on water. The main effect of prescribed burning on the water resource is the potential for increased runoff of rainfall. When surface runoff increases after burning, it may carry suspended soil particles, dissolved inorganic nutrients, and other materials into adjacent streams and lakes, reducing water quality.
Image result for environmental impact co2 of controlled burn
Wildfires emit carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that will continue to warm the planet well into the future. They damage forests that would otherwise remove CO2 from the air. And they inject soot and other aerosols into the atmosphere, with complex effects on warming and cooling.

Wow. These are some powerful nature images of the Pinelands.
Thanks for the comments, Shawn
